A Good Look

This is a look I can really get behind. Granted I would take some creative liberties when applying this to my personal wardrobe, but still a solid look.

I'm all about slimmer fit pants for suits, casual wear, or whatever, but if you haven't noticed the looser fit making a comeback then you should check it out. That as well as the lack of break in the pant is great. Most often you see guys with so much fabric bunching up at the top of their shoe. Get that tailored up. I don't like anything more than a quarter break, but it's your suit. Do what feels comfortable.

Pleats as well. For quite a while the suits you see on street style blogs are very plain. This is a great way to incorporate some classic suiting into a casual wardrobe without going overboard. The small accents here and there like the keys and the distressed belt bring a great balance to a simple look. Plus I think the low slung sweater is very manly.

T Shirt + Suit

Everyone has a fresh t shirt in their drawer. If you don't, you should probably go get a pack.
But, make sure they're not the extreme crew neck. The kind that make you feel like you're being choked by a really weak guy all day. Get a relaxed neck or a v neck.
I'm more of a v neck kind of guy. Then there are always the options of the slouch tees, slub tees, deep v's, and so on. It's a great way to dress down a suit jacket for a night on the town or a good out if all your shirts are at the dry cleaners, and it gives you a casual, yet put together look that I use quite often.

Don't Doubt.

People doubt the versatility of a suit most of the time. They think there is only one way to wear it. These shoes go with this color, that tie will only go with that shirt etc.

It's that kind of thinking that will get you nowhere in the world of style. Of course there a certain exceptions, but style is subjective.

Lately there has been an emergence of a particular look that I am a fan of.

A classic suit put with a pair of rugged work boots.

Now, before you go running to your local Mejier for some $20 Timberland knock offs, hear me out.

We're talking good looking boots. Brass eyelets, a beautiful leather that has been distressed over time. You know. Imagine what kind of boot Steve McQueen would wear as he pulls up to a burning building that has a lone baby trapped inside of it. Minutes pass and you see him jump from the top floor window, baby in tote and a lit cigarette. The cigarette was lit by the flames as he slowly passed through.

Those are the kind of boots I'm talking about.

The possibilities are endless with this look. You can easily dress it down with a t-shirt, or go all out. The choice is up to you. But understand you shouldn't rock your opening Olympics tuxedo with some Red Wings. Know your suit. Know your setting. The Queen would probably prefer you wear your oxfords.

Don't EVER apply advice like this to how you dress yourself.

It's wrong. Who says you can't wear brown shoes with a black suit?

If done correctly it can look fantastic. What you see above is not style advice. 

If you allow yourself to use these "tips", then it will not be style. I will be conformity. 

Dress boldly, and above all, dress how you feel comfortable.

There are days...

Some days I just can't get my look together. I really don't think that's anything to be ashamed of. You're just not in the right mindset, or you've got laundry to do. It's understandable.
On days like this, the first place I go to is the J. Crew website.
It's perfect for a casual, just rolled out of bed with a twist kind of look. Or, You can get and idea of how to pair what you thought was a casual only kind of shirt with a suit. They've really locked down the whole versatility thing I'd say.

My favorite category to go through would be "The Liquor Store". Everything about it just screams manly.
When you're scrolling through you start to get the feel as if you're wearing one of the outfits you're looking at, walking down aisle 3 of local your mom and pop liquor shop at about 12:30 a.m. trying to decide between gin or bourbon. And, of course you always have to put into account the next morning. No one wants to wake up asking themselves why they are passed out next to a random woman in an airport terminal, have a one way ticket to Forks, a vile of glitter in their pocket and "Team Edward" written on their forehead, dressed badly...
That would just make a bad situation worse, wouldn't you say?

So, Edward. The next time you're rummaging your closet trying to find a decent outfit, think of J. Crew.
They've always got you covered when in doubt or need.

Words of Wisdom

When you think about luxury, you think of mansions, fast cars, beautiful women,  and unlimited money and resources. That is the "Dream". But when you really get down to the bare bones of things, it's always the simplest of pleasures that are the most luxurious. When I wake up in the morning, I think about all the things that need to be done and by what time. I'm usually 15 minutes late to everything and will always try to sleep as long as I possibly can. At the end of the day what do we all do? We walk into our home, take off our shoes, take off the day's attire, take a long deep breath and sit down.

That is at least what I do. I enjoy the silence and the fact that the rest of the time in the day is mine. I can use it how I please, or not use it at all. At that point in the day, you are the master. You are in control of yourself. 

That is true luxury.
