A Shining Example

This is one of those photos that can say a lot without saying anything at all.
All it shows is a person shining their shoes, but what it shows if you look closer is an attention to ones self, an eye for detail and a respect for ones belongings. At least that is what I see.
Shining your shoes can be almost relaxing. Simply thinking about your shoes for a good ten minutes and nothing else and then the feeling when you put those perfectly shined shoes on for the first time after. You feel very confident, like all eyes are one you. It can be a great thing when you're in a funk. I always try to dress my best when I'm feeling my worst. That way if you look good chances are you'll end up feeling good as well.

Look and enjoy.

This is not part of the Good Look segment. This is not part of the WIWT segment. This is simply a photo that I wanted to post in appreciation.
The color palette is impeccable and the subtle clashing is fantastic.

WIWT #3

Today is work attire. Usually I'll wear a black vest while working, but today was calling for a change. Luke is nowhere to be found because of his one year anniversary with his girlfriend so I shot these myself. WIW(Tonight) coming later seeing as it is also the man's 21st birthday as well.

Another Alexander Nash suit. Their collections are amazing inspiration for me when it comes to my suits.

TC Street Style: Kent

Everyone who knows him knew he was going to be on here eventually.
Today was the day.

Morning View

There are times in our lives when we just don't want to get dressed. How many times do you have to hit the snooze button in the morning before you actually drag yourself out of bed? How is it that no matter how much you toss and turn in the night the instant your alarm goes off your bed is the most comfortable, warm, cozy place on Earth. For me it was twice today. When this happens I always go with the quick and easy combos. Nothing too vastly thought out, just a pair of jeans and a button down. You can easily add flare to your look with socks or your jewelry, but these are things that require minimal thought in the morning and I believe that is the goal. At least until you get about two cups of coffee in you. These are days I enjoy because it give you that disheveled look but with a hint of sophistication.

WIWT(onight)

As per usual. Enjoying an espresso late in the evening with my good friend Luke. Simple look this evening.
Vintage Dior sweater, corduroy vest, grey suit jacket with peaked lapel, a pair of raw denim Levi's, and a pair of grey suede Chelsea boots. It's chilly outside, but I don't want to wear a huge cost. If the layering is right, you can be just as warm without one.

WIWT #1

While sitting at the coffee shop I work at having my afternoon pour over my good friend Luke (VASTFOCUS) and I decided to do a quick snapshot of my attire for the day. Minorly candid but it turned out well.
This starts the series of "What I Wore Today" posts that will be assisted by Luke.

Good Look #2

A Trip to Remember

A diamond in the rough has been the description of so many people, places and things, but one place that epitomizes this description is Detroit. On the outside people see it as dangerous, outdated, dead even, but being in that city for even the shortest amount of time will change your view on it.
It's beautiful architecture, it's nightlife, even the abandoned building have a lingering soul. So now I'm going to stop being all poetic and tell you what went down.
This past weekend my fellow groomsmen and I traveled to Detroit for a bachelor party. When we arrived our first priority was to chow down on some gyros from the famous Greek Town tavern called Pegasus. Next was to begin our night of consumption and revelry. Our first few ventures were unsuccessful. Either they were too pretentious, or were crawling with college students drinking Long Islands fist pumping. Once we weeded out the top layer we got to the good stuff. We heard about a place through a waitress of ours at the start of our night. That place was Cliff Bell's.

Once you walk in you are greeted by dim lights and melodic jazz that just begs you to stay. So we did. On the menu you will find such cocktails as the Vesper (the original James Bond martini) and the Hemmingway (a mixed rendition of the man's classic daiquiri). Two drinks that I gladly enjoyed. Now apart from the drinks, the style of this place was reminiscent of what I would imagine speak easy goers to look like. Dressed to the nines, three piece suits, perfectly polished shoes. Nothing out of place and everyone carried themselves with such confidence. You immediately feel yourself held to a higher standard and never want to leave. It is a place that I will be traveling to as much as I possibly can from this point on.

Good Look #1

Rather than giving ideas or advice on exactly what to wear and how to wear it like I usually do I will be adding a segment to RUDESUIT that is reminiscent of my earlier blog style of deconstructing a look that I find to be interesting. We will call this "Good Look". If you follow on RUDESUIT on Facebook then you will know that for a small about of time RUDESUIT went astray. I had changed the name to MR. GOOD LOOK and after countless comments about how readers missed the old name, it changed back. However, personally still enjoying the name, I wanted to somehow incorporate it.
So, by tapping into an archive of thousand of street style photographs, runway stills and possibly in the future; personal street style photos, "Good Look" will now be an inspirational piece for men who enjoy deconstructing a look themselves.
Enjoy.

Soul Searching

It is the opinion of many that I have encountered that layering is the root of style. It doesn't have to be an abundance of layers. It can be as little as two, but the harmony of perfectly clashing patterns or textures is what draws the eye to a persons wardrobe. Knowing how to pair stripes and paisley or add a corduroy vest to a tweed suit or blend all four options into one outfit. An argument can be made that layering can easily be classified as the soul of style.

Going (Ging)ham

I've talked about plaid in the past, but what I have yet to talk about is the great versatility of Gingham or the "picnic pattern" for the fashion illiterate.
Just like plaid it is making its way into mainstream menswear by way of boat, land, air, illegal tunneling...
Meaning it's everywhere.
Usually I give examples of how to wear it casually and formally and I know I sound like a broken record sometimes, but it's true and it works.
I've always liked khakis with gingham and the classic white Vans.
As for a formal look I'd keep it plain other than the shirt. Most of the time the most popular gingham colors are blue or red so I'd wear either a black, grey, or blue suit and a knit tie perhaps. It all depends on what the occasion is and what you expect to get out of your gingham other than laying it out in the park to relax on.

Deep In The Trenches

The trench coat; "was developed as an alternative to the heavy serge greatcoats worn by British and French soldiers in the First World War. Invention of the trench coat is claimed by both Burberry and Aquascutum, with Aquascutum's claim dating back to the 1850s. Thomas Burberry, the inventor of gabardine fabric, submitted a design for an army officer's raincoat to the United Kingdom War Office in 1901."

Nowadays it is becoming an essential in a man's wardrobe.
Be it Navy, Beige, or black, it can be worn casual or dressy and can be a deconstructed simple trench or a classic styling.

On a rainy or slightly chilly day it is perfect to throw on as a completion piece to an east sweater and jeans look.

Style:

"It is to be noted that style has nothing to do with price points; nor does it have anything to do with notable designers. It alone has everything to do with one’s perception of himself."
